Diagnosing upper respiratory disease
Family background, personal history and
a physical examination will help your physician determine what's
causing your allergy-like symptoms. If your doctor suspects allergy,
only an allergy test can tell for sure. Four types of tests can
be used to rule in or rule out allergy – blood testing,
skin testing, food challenge and patch testing.
If you've been tested for allergy and
discovered that it is not a factor, there are many other steps
you can take to get to the cause of your symptoms. Your physician
may recommend a sinus X-ray, or you may be referred to an ear,
nose and throat specialist. |
